Friday Afternoon
March 17th, 2017

This afternoon Joell and I took our dinghy 2 miles south to the McLarty Treasure Museum

This museum is on the site of the 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet salvaging camp.  The site is designated as a National Historical Landmark.  The fleet encountered a large hurricane on its way to Spain, from Mexico and South America.  Some 1500 survivors struggled ashore, set up camps and sent for help from Spanish colonies in St. Augustine and Cuba.  The Spanish salvaged the wreck sites for 4 years.  In the 1960's the wrecks were rediscovered and salvage operations commenced.  Many original artifacts are on display at the McLarty Treasure Museum.

At the museum overlook of Atlantic

Some of the displayed gold pieces at the museum...

Replica coins, we purchased, of the 1715 Fleet of which millions are still out there not far from shore...

Closest we have gotten to finding gold, so far.
The curator stated we could probably find something on the beach today, since we had such strong force winds for the last few days.  If someone finds a relic on the sand, it is theirs.  Found any where in the water, Florida gets a cut, unless you kick it up on the sand when nobody is looking.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Another de-masted sailboat hard aground...

Can you eat Star Fish???

We tossed them back, gently...

These crabs are going to make for a lite dinner...

Oh, thank goodness, we don't have to share...
these are the size of a half dollar...

Our bait (old fish we caught) and Mr. Star Fish

Generator was getting hard to start and didn't sound quite right..

Changed both spark plugs and the water impeller which was missing two fins...
After pulling the pump and hoses and fishing in the heat exchanger we found the broken fins and a piece from a past one...

Sounds and Runs just great now!!!  7.3 K Watt Kohler Generator...nice little unit..
