We spent our last day in Cape May exploring the beach area. It was a sunny, yet not too warm of a day. Seas were still showing us large swells, so we waited until the next morning, Friday May 26, to continue north on the Atlantic Ocean. It was a wonderful day at sea. We were very glad to have patiently waited for good weather.
We spent the night in Atlantic City, at Farleys' State Marina on the Golden Nugget grounds. We drank and ate a nice evening meal. The next morning, today, we headed north again. Enjoying the weather window.
We are now at Captain Bills' Landing Marina. We hope to leave tomorrow for Staten Island, NY.
No electric or water hook up but at a dollar a foot we'll take it...

We were amazed how many people were on the beach. It was sunny but in the 60s. The folks also had to pay to use the Cape May beaches 😒

Today we arrived at the Captain Bills Landing Marina. It is an experience to say the least. At a $1 a foot, there is no electric or water, just a place to dock. Can't even get off the boat except by dinghy. These slips are for workboats which are currently down in Cape May...
A cold Holiday Sunday and the locals have to get out.
This sandbar is totally under water after the tide comes up about 4 feet...
You don't want to tie your boat up too tight, otherwise it'll be hanging by the lines...

We safely made it to Cape May, New Jersey! Left Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbour on May 21 and headed down the Chesapeake/Delaware Canal to Delaware City Marina. From there we staged our ride down Delaware Bay. The Marina owner held a talk each evening at 5:00pm to let us know if we could leave. We were lucky to only spend two nights at Delaware City Marina. Many loopers in the weeks before us had to spend quite a few more nights there before taking off for Cape May. The Delaware has a reputation for straining the nerves.
We are currently at Canyon Club Resort Marina in Cape May, New Jersey. We will be holding up here until Saturday, hopefully. Then taking the Atlantic coast up to Atlantic city and beyond to New York Harbor. The intercostal is too shallow to risk, unless we were stranded and desperate.
The restaurants in Delaware City, Delaware are very unique to say the least. We ate the first night at Crabby Dick's. The marina gave us coupons for two free Crabby Balls with a shot of Seaman Sauce. 😁

Another restaurant we visited in Delaware City was Lewinsky's on Clinton St (get it?). There were pictures of Bill Clinton there. We were told it was a Polish restaurant, but only saw German food on the menu...
We had a decent ride down the Delaware Bay. Here is the nuclear power plant we passed. Had to stay beyond the yellow buoys or a military boat would give us trouble.
We were told there would be massive freighter/barge traffic. This is the only one we passed, that was moving.

When we finally made it to Cape May, NJ it was cold, rainy and windy.
When the sun came out it warmed up for a few. Above is the fudge shop we bought salt water taffy there.
We also bought very good custard at Kohr Brothers. Ben & Jerry's and DQ were also down the street, in this little town.

We also took a trolley ride around town, looking at the Cape May historic district. The town claims to be America's first seaside resort and has numerous buildings in the late Victorian style.

To maintain the historic district, all new homes must be built to compliment the older historic homes. One can't just build a home in Cape May. Even out of the historic district one must get permission to put up a fence and it better be the right kind.
This is the Emlen Physick Estate. It is said that Dr. Emlen Physick Jr. would inherit the entire estate of his parents if he would go to medical school. He did, but never practiced a day of his life. The Physick's, a well-known Philadelphia family owned most of Cape May at that time.
After our trolley tour, the guys found this neat car. They believe it is for a handicapped person.
Last night, Wednesday, we went out to the Lobster House Restaurant.
We have been waiting for someone to try the soft shell crab. Elke tried it at the Lobster House. She only ate half and Mike tried it... It looked like something from the movie Alien where it leaped up and sucked onto your face laying eggs inside of you... Not impressed...
Mike got a little goofy. He actually looks good with his hat on upside down...
After eating we went to a marina near by and visited with some more loopers. This boat, as it looks is very large. There were four couples eating there before our group of 6 even arrived.

Herb is the white haired gentleman that's standing up...He went to leave a couple days ago, dropped his iPad Pro onto the floor which took his eye's off of what he was doing out in the channel and hit big Red-16 ATON(Aids TO Navigation) and smashed the crap out of the support on the starboard stern quarter of his boat that supports the aft cabin roof... he shook it off...

We arrived at the Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbour Marina yesterday. It was a wonderful ride up the Chesapeake Bay or as Mike would say "rather boring." There is nothing close to this marina and no curtesy car. Luckily for us, we stocked up at Georgetown. There were a few delivery menus, so we ordered Italian and they brought it right up to the boat slip.
There was a little rain, lightening and hail last evening, but over night it was quiet. Today we should get a high of 66 degrees. A lot cooler than the 90 degrees yesterday.
The Coastguard Auxiliary inspected our boat today. We passed!

On the drive to Bohemia, there were a lot more hills then we have been seeing. Houses on the cliffs remind us of Milwaukee.
Every once and a while we see a break in the trees and have to take a look. This is a trailer park community. A little blurry, but you get the idea.
Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbour (BBYH) has a nice beach.
BBYH also has a nice pool and quite a few picnic areas. The pool first opened today. Guess we are getting closer to summer.
This picnic area is out on a point. We walked out there this morning, but forgot our camera.
There are quite a few covered slips and open slips. 300 slips total. By the way, that is us over on the right. Always easy to see us by the bright orange balls. 😀
