We drank our coffee and headed away from our Lock 52 anchorage at about 8am.  It was another nice  quiet day.  At about 9:45am we left the Ohio River and entered the Cumberland River.  This river is very scenic and quiet.  Not much tow traffic, in fact we only passed one tow during this run.  It was so quiet Captain Mike emptied the 75 gallon gasoline bladder into the gas tank and cleaned up the boat.

Cumberland river has a lot of gravel industry.   It must be busy on week days.

Quiet Cumberland

At about 2:45pm we got to the Barkley Lock.  It goes up 57 feet.  It was very new and amazingly fast.

Just on the other side of Barkley Lock is our destination, Lake Barkley and Green Turtle Marina.  We have reservations for a week at Green Turtle.  It is a full service resort and marina.

Joell immediately made reservations for both Mike and Joell to get hair cuts at the spa.  We went that evening to the Commonwealth Yacht Club at the Green Turtle Bay Marina and had drinks and dinner.  We brought our own booze and the yacht club bartender then fixed and served the drinks for you.  He then charged $2.50 a glass or $5.00 for corking fee.  Very odd.  Green Turtle Bay happens to be in a dry county.

Monday
Labor Day

We went for provisions, to Walmart.  The marina has a loaner car.  One couple for 2 hours or two couples for 4 hours.  Of course, we went with John and Joanna for the 4 hours.
